Health and Safety (DSE Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 – require provision and maintenance of an environment in which display screens can be operated without risk to health.

Requirements for workstations

Every employer shall ensure that any workstation first put into service on or after 1st January 1993 which:

  • May be used for the purposes of his undertaking by users
  • Has been provided by him and may be used for the purposes of his undertaking by operators
  • Meets the requirements laid down in the Schedule to these Regulations

Every employer shall ensure that any workstation first put into service on or before 31st December 1992 which:

  • May be used for the purposes of his undertaking by users
  • Was provided by him and may be used for the purposes of his undertaking by operators
  • Meets the requirements laid down in the Schedule to these Regulations, not later than 31st December 1996.
